The Third Option

If it feels like you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place, you just need to find a third option. If the two options you have both feel like losses, take a beat and find a third option.

When decision-making gets stressful, our ability to think clearly is limited. If you can take a walk and have a glass of water, a third option will likely become clear.

If you have extra time to make a decision, use it. Don’t procrastinate, but use the time to consider a third option. Really think! Talk things out, write it down, imagine the best-case scenario. If you don’t, the third option might come to you after you already decided–and you’ll feel like an idiot.

Decision-makers like us sometimes need to strategically not make decisions, for the sake of better ones.
