Make a Quick List

Got a busy day ahead? Make a quick list.

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed when I need to wake up early for a production (like today). Trying to remember all the things I have to do right after I wake up is tough. Also, when I accidentally remember something I still need to do, I get stressed out. Especially when I’m trying to fall asleep.

A great solution for these last-minute stressors is a quick list of the first few things I need to do that day. I start with the easy stuff: wake up, take shower, brush teeth, make coffee. Once I start knocking these things off the list, I generate momentum and confidence to tackle the rest of the day.

When I’m falling asleep and I remember that I need to bring something? I just put it on the list real quick. It takes 10 seconds, but now it’s out of my head and on the note. I can sleep peacefully again.

Usually about halfway through the day, I have enough momentum and clarity that I don’t need to the check each thing off the list as I go. But it sure does help me get the day started.

Good luck out there.

Here’s my note for today:
