My first book is finally here

Friends, this is a big day.

When I started writing this book at the beginning of 2023, I had no idea how long it would take to get it in your hands, or how much it would require of me.

But now, I’m thrilled to be able to say…

What Gives You the Right to Freelance? is officially out on May 25th!

Getting to this point was a long road. Even after publishing over 700 articles on my website since 2018, writing 465 days in a row, and writing over a quarter of a million words…the resistance was still strong. The imposter syndrome was still there.

Through multiple rounds of editing, 8 different cover iterations, a few title and tagline workshops, 6 different test prints, and hundreds of doubts, I finally overcame it all to bring this book into the world.

In The Right to Freelance, I share stories and insights to help freelancers overcome their mental blocks, find their work-life balance, and achieve the career of their dreams.

The book is in five sections:

  1. Getting Started

  2. Pitching

  3. Doing the Work

  4. Client Care

  5. Work-Life Balance

I believe this book will help freelancers of all kinds, in all stages, with its practical stories. I really faced my fears, and strove to write “the truest sentence I knew” in every chapter, as Hemingway reminds us.

While every section has great practical tips and helpful stories, it’s the Work-Life Balance section that I feel will resonate most deeply with you. It’s the piece of writing that I’m most proud of in my life so far.

The book is quite readable—you can reach each section in less than one hour, and you can read each chapter in only a few minutes.

If you’ve received value from my emails, articles, or videos in the past few years, please consider pre-ordering the book. This is what it has all been for so far. This is what it’s all been culminating to.

This is the work I’m most proud of yet.
