Self-Awareness & Reflection
Everyone has bad days. Everyone wakes up feeling small some days. Everyone questions if they’re on the right path.
When these feelings rush in for me, I find it hard to get out of bed. I set an early alarm to try and “productive” my way out of how I feel, but then I end up watching videos for an hour under the covers.
Self-awareness and reflection are great tools for getting your days back on track quick. So often, we push, and we push, and we push against the door we want open–only to discover a handle we could have pulled to open the door.
Self-awareness and reflection aren’t meant to trivialize the bad days. They aren’t meant to minimize the importance of how you feel. No one wants you to smash your feelings down and put on a fake positive face.
But there is an effective strategy in recognizing patterns in life. There are benefits from understanding what is causing you to feel the way you do. There’s wisdom in avoiding these things in the future. Reflection is the small pull handle that can open the door for you.
I’m writing this for myself today. I hope someone out there finds value in it too. A 15 minute, unfiltered journal session can work wonders in getting your mindset back to a positive place.
Good luck out there.
