Birthday Shout-Outs
Today is my birthday. I want to recognize a few of the people who have made my 28th year on this planet even better. These people have inspired me to continue working to make the small corner of the world I’m in a better place.
My Wife
Marian and I got married this year, and we started a lifetime of laughter and love. I’m very grateful to Marian because she inspires me to be a more balanced person. When I was a bachelor, I would work until eight or nine many nights, because I didn’t really have anything else to do. Now that we’re married, I have a built-in best friend that I always want to hang out with. She inspires me to focus on what’s important, work tirelessly at that, and then delegate the rest. Because at the end of the day, I’d rather be spending time with her.
If you want to hear what I’ve learned from marriage so far, you can read more here and also here.
My Dad
My dad is a huge inspiration for me to invest in my community. Throughout the course of his entire life, he was so present with each person in his community. My dad was also a beacon of consistency. He published a daily devotional on Links Players’ blog every single weekday for twenty years. Twenty years. He’s my biggest inspiration to keep writing, and keep contributing. I love you, dad.
You can read some of his work here.
My Favorite Client (and best friend)
Jeremiah Davis and I have been working together for almost five years–and I’m so grateful. Jeremiah has given me opportunities that I never would have taken otherwise, and has trusted me to produce some of the biggest opportunities of his career. Jeremiah’s honesty and generosity make him so great to work with over the long-term, and I’m so excited to see where his career goes next (and how I can help him with it!)

My Cousin
Hudson moved to Los Angeles at the beginning this year to work with me and Jeremiah, and he hasn’t looked back. I’ve never met anyone as socially smart as Hudson. He can pick up the conversational flow with influencers, professional athletes, and church kids–and make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. It’s been a real privilege to work with Hudson, and a true blessing to have another family member grinding it out in Los Angeles with me.

My Favorite Blogger
My favorite blogger this year was Cole Schafer at Honey Copy. This man puts as much artistry and feeling into his craft as anyone, and isn’t afraid to show it. He inspired me to launch my own newsletter, What I Really Think, and to push my writing to the next level. A little gregarious, a little coarse, and a lot of heart. Cole is a writer I’m looking forward to reading more of, and meeting someday.
Thanks for reading my blog this year! I appreciate all of my readers, and hope to meet more of you in the future. Happy New Year!
