Thankful

Life is stressful. Things don’t always go how you imagined they would.

Chasing dreams feels more like running through the woods alone, and building a fortune feels like running on a hamster wheel.

And yet, the word “thankful” emerges out of the dirt like a flower. It doesn’t care if you pick it up, but it knows you’d be happier if you did.

In the middle of it all, we have the option to be thankful. Yes, we have to think long term and make hard decisions on the pathway to making our dreams come true. But at what cost? If the cost is sacrificing thankfulness and gratitude, that cost is too high.

You don’t know when you will die, so choose work you love, and enjoy the small moments in the middle. If you knew you only had two years left to live, you would talk a little longer in the booth after dinner.

Just a little longer.
