Creating Reality
Some things are true and some things are not true. Some things are good and some things are bad. Some things are fact and some things are subjective.
But none of this matters. All of these things we experience through that very word.
Experience.
I bring this up because in the freelance world, how a client experiences reality is everything. You may have created the greatest work of your life. You may have created the best ad in history. But if the client didn’t have a good experience working with you, it doesn’t matter.
This seems incredibly unfair. Why is it that some people are given the role of “client”, and with it, the power to diminish your work simply because of their experience? If you take this train of thought to the final station, things get jaded pretty quickly.
The great freelancers that I know understand that personal experience influences everything. They understand that everything in their own lives (facts, art, beliefs, etc.) runs through the filter of experience before it comes out on the other end of understanding.
This is the human experience. Of course we can learn to dictate how much experience influences our understanding of reality, but we can’t do that for other people. The great freelancers I know understand this better than I do, and create great experiences for their clients while they create great work.
Good luck out there!
