Life-changing wisdom and insights can be boiled down to a few very short sentences. The trouble is, when things are too short they don’t stick.
The reason books are so powerful is not because the ideas need 60,000 words to support them. They’re powerful because the time it takes us to read 60,000 words is just the length of time we need for the ideas to truly sink in.
Knowledge and understanding can be very quickly acquired. But when the rubber hits the road and life gets stressful, all we’re left with is our wisdom—and wisdom takes much longer to cultivate.
