Switching from buyer to seller
If you sell creative services, the first thing you have to do is turn your prospect into a buyer. If you’re connected to a social media manager, or a marketing manager, or a creative director at a brand, your first task is to get them to buy into what you do. You have to make them a believer.
Generally speaking, this is the easy part. They got their job because they have good taste. If you make good work, they’ll recognize that.
The second thing you have to do is turn your prospect into a seller. They have to sell their bosses and teams on the idea of hiring you. This part is harder. You need to equip your prospect with materials that bring true clarity to the decision. You have to present your complex and nuanced work as if it’s the most common-sense decision in the world.
Many people can make good work. Not many people do the extra work after that to make their good work seem like a good idea. One of the best ways to do this is to organize your offer in a pitch deck. Viral social media videos and killer portfolios catch the eyes of prospects. Pitch decks work well to turn your prospects into sellers.
Good luck out there.
