See The Lines

“There comes a moment in doing your reading where new work begins to rhyme. When you start to see the connections.”

–Seth Godin

When you start researching a new field (or practice, or software, or hobby), everything seems exciting and new. Everything you’re learning is mind-blowing. It’s awesome. But as time goes on, things start to sound familiar.

Seth Godin says this is the time to start working.

When I first started my freelance career, I didn’t understand a lot of things. I couldn’t keep clients, I couldn’t charge more, and worst of all, I didn’t know why.

But over time, as I read more books and listened to more podcasts, things started to make sense. Like a golfer on a putting green, I began to see the lines–the invisible bumps and curves that dictated direction.

This is essential for sustained success in your field. And once things start to click, put the book down. There’s a reason you started researching in the first place, and it was to help you achieve results.

So once you see the lines, take the putt.
