The Art Of Taking A Good, Long Break

I’m going to need to learn the art of taking a good, long break.

For those who don’t know me personally, I’m about to get married. In 9 days I will finish work for the evening, and commence a 12-day break for my wedding and honeymoon.

Since I started my career five years ago, I can’t remember a time I took more than 3 days off at once. And even when I did, I was still checking email and keeping myself available. The escape was always temporary and easily broken.

This time, I’ve designed my contracts and workload such that I’ll be able to do absolutely nothing for 12 days. All my blogs will be pre-written. My vacation responder will be set. Its unheard of.

I’m a little bit nervous about taking a break like this. I’m wondering if I’ll be able to completely check out, and focus on my wife and new life. I’m wondering if the itch to produce will come back to annoy me.

We’ll find out in a few days. Until then, I have a shoot to produce, a creative team to manage, and a YouTube channel to launch for my clients. I hope to return with fresh insights and new ideas.

Wish me luck.
