Big Decisions in 2022? Make a Pros and Cons List
If you have a big decision to make, write a list of pros and cons. Some people say not to write lists of pros and cons, because it’s too rigid of a rubric to judge important, flexible decisions.
I disagree.
Writing a list of pros and cons in a great way to think about the benefits and drawbacks of something. Seeing everything side by side brings a lot of clarity about which things are most important to you. At the end of the day, the list serves you. You don’t serve your list.
So, if you see your list, and one decision makes a lot more logical sense, but it still doesn’t feel right, then you just learned something. You learned that the intangibles of your other decision were way more important to you than you thought, and you should protect those even more fervently.
What I’m really getting at here is to think. The easiest thing to do is nothing, and that’s exactly what your bosses and other entrepreneurs want to you to do. Nothing. Because then they won’t have to pay you more, and there won’t be new competition introduced to the space. But that’s not what’s best for you. So whether its with a pros and cons list, a long walk on the beach, a conversation with a friend, or a freaking chisel and stone tablet–just think!
Grab 2022 by the horns. You got this.
