27

Today I turned 27 years old.

Recently, I had a conversation with a social media manager who was just starting her freelance career. We talked about everything: pitching, finding clients, standing out.

Just before we finished our call, she asked me what I would have told myself if I was starting out again. I told her that I wished I was more patient when I started freelancing. I told her to stick with it for a year before she reconsiders. It’ll take about a year for things to really get going.

She was surprised, and I could tell by the tone of her voice that she felt that was a long time.

Then I told her that a year is no time at all. It flies by.

So here I am at 27, feeling like I just moved to Venice Beach at 22 only a short while ago. But here I am at 27.

Cherish every moment. Chase the good, accept the bad. They’re both worth the same in the end. Make the most of your opportunities. Schedule time to rest and enjoy your life. Why?

Because life moves fast.
